NEWS - OCTOBER 2007 - SEA STEEL & CAPE GROUP ORDERS
SEA STEEL Ltd and CAPE GROUP Ltd, SEA STEEL'S Asian representative, recently won two orders to supply a "FAST FRAME" for sub sea mooring pile installations. The first is for the Maari project in New Zealand where 84 inch piles are to be installed for an FPSO and the second is for the installation of 96" piles on the Montara Development in the Timor Sea.
In both cases the verticality of the piles and the heading of the anchor chain are critical leading the field developers to decide on the FAST FRAME as the best method of installation.
Actual video
of the "FAST FRAME" delivery at CAPE GROUP
FAST FRAME has been developed over the last 10 years and is now the proven method of choice for installing anchor piles for SBM, FSO and FPSO type moorings as well as "start up" piles for pipe laying.
Just as fabrication started for Maari's FAST FRAME in Singapore , Montara's requirement for 96" piles saw the award of Montara's frame, also to CAPE / SEA STEEL. Last minute design changes were made to the frame to increase the maximum pile diameter from 84" to 96".
The frame was built on time and on the 9th October was tested at the fabricator's premises, Derrick Services Limited, in Singapore. Present at the test were clients and interested parties who may also have a use for the FAST FRAME, in Asia, in the future.

This Frame, at 96", is the largest yet to be built, weighs in at 125 tons and stands 8.5 meters high. CAPE and SEA STEEL now have both a 60" and the 96" frame, allowing piles from 48" up to 96" diameter to be installed using Asian based equipment.
It is hoped, as the market matures, that smaller frames may also be stocked in Singapore in the future especially when the requirements move into deeper water.
CAPE and SEA STEEL can also supply piling hammers, pile handling tools and personnel to operate the equipment thereby giving the customer a TOTAL solution.
