CAPE Group Ltd was formed in 1999 as the holding company for a group of companies called “Construction and Piling Equipment” operating mainly in South East Asia and Europe.
Based in Singapore, the holding company has shareholdings or associations with all companies within the CAPE GROUP, including those in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The management of CAPE Group have extensive experience in the Asia Pacific region in the fields of Onshore and Offshore construction.

The management is dynamic and welcomes new opportunities, including expansion. This year CAPE Group plan to expand its operations further into Indo-China, South Asuia and South East Asia. Partners are presently being sought in the following countries: Bangladgesh, India, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

The CAPE Group is constantly looking for “niche market” products in our area of expertise where the emphasis is on quality, reliability and safety. The company will sell, maintain and operate the equipment they represent in the relevant area of the world. In addition, CAPE Group can provide consultation and design for products for special Offshore or Onshore applications.
The Company believes that in order to have a broad operating base to weather the market peaks and troughs, it is important to mix the Offshore and Onshore business as well as having a geographical spread. This is achieved by having small, locally owned and run companies, overseeing the activities in their respective geographical areas, with close support from Head Office. This enables each company to have it’s own direction and to operate in the way the market demands in each area, with instant response to a customers needs. Today CAPE GROUP have offices in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as associated representation in Vietnam, Laos and Burma (Myanmar).
DIRECTORS
SIMON HARTOG
Managing Director, CAPE Group Ltd.
Mr Hartog has been in Asia for the last 30 years and has been involved in the construction industry both onshore and offshore for most of that time.
Mr Hartog started his career in Asia in the diving industry firstly as a diver (where he held the record for the deepest saturation dive done in Asia at that time) then as a Supervisor thereafter as Equipment Manager and Operations Manager for Taylor Diving, a division of Halliburton / Brown and Root.
In 1986 he left Taylor Diving and was posted to the Middle East to head-up operations for Fraser Diving.
After two years building up the diving business in the Middle East for Fraser Diving, he returned to Asia to start ICE Far East Pte Ltd a company concentrating on the sales and rental of construction equipment for the onshore and offshore industry. The company grew over the next 11 years to be one of the best known companies renting piling equipment in Asia with operations stretching from India in the west through to New Zealand and China in the East.
In 1999 he started CAPE Group Ltd and the company is now mainly concentrated in the Offshore market with emphasis on the pipeline repair, maintenance and decommissioning markets as well as offshore piling and sub sea construction works.
BERNHARD BRUGGAIER
Director, CAPE Group Ltd.
Bernhard Bruggaier is the Vice President of Acteon’s Products and Services companies. Bernhard started at MENCK as design engineer in 1994. One year later he took responsibility as project engineer for MENCK’s deepwater pile installation system. In 1996 he moved to the sales department as project manager for MENCK’s deepwater activities. In 1997 he was appointed manager special projects and reported directly to the managing director. In 1999 he took full responsibility for MENCK as managing director.
Prior to joining MENCK, Bernhard was research assistant and project manager for industrial projects at the Technical University, Darmstadt, Germany. In September 2004, Bernhard was elected to the executive steering committee of the Marine and Offshore Industry Section of VDMA, the Federation of German Engineering Industries. Bernhard holds a Masters of Engineering from Cornell University, USA, a Masters degree (Dipl.-Ing.) and a PhD (Dr.-Ing.) in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University, Darmstadt, Germany.
KEVIN OVENDEN
Director, CAPE Group Ltd.
Kevin Ovenden is the Group Finance Director of Acteon. He started his finance career twenty years ago, training and qualifying as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse in London. After leaving the profession in 1990 he held a number of senior finance roles in industry, in the FMCG and chemicals sectors. Kevin joined the company in 2000 as finance director and holds a BSc (Hons) in Management Sciences from Warwick University.
